Borrow an e-bike for FREE for one week from our Community Pedal Power non-profit organization! We have two pickup locations in the Boston area: near Porter Square and near Roslindale Village.
How it works
- Read our guidelines and learn about e-bikes below, then Sign Up to Borrow an E-Bike
- At our location near Porter Square, we normally schedule pickups on Saturdays 9am-3pm.
- At our location near Roslindale Village, we normally schedule pickups on Tuesday mornings and evenings.
- We’ll contact you to schedule your pickup, which requires up to 20 minutes for orientation and test ride.
- Enjoy your e-bike for up to one week, bring it back to our library, and you can sign up to borrow again.
- Contact us if you have any questions or do not receive a response within one week after submitting your form.
Step 1: Sign up to Borrow an E-Bike!
Borrowing Guidelines
- Before pickup, anyone who plans to pilot the e-bike must read and sign our Waiver Form. Please treat the bike as if it’s your own. If you are careless with the bike, or do not lock it securely, or return it late, this affects other borrowers and we may decide not to lend to you again.
- Children must be 12 months or older to ride on our e-bikes and must wear a helmet. We provide child seats. Ask us ahead of time if you wish to borrow any child or adult helmets — see sizes.
- Be prepared to ride your e-bike from our pickup location to your home. You are NOT permitted to transport our e-bikes using a motor vehicle.
- We lend e-bikes for normal transportation. You are NOT permitted to use our e-bikes for delivery services.
- Safety first! To avoid tip-overs, adults must hold an e-bike whenever children are climbing onboard or sitting on their seat. Before riding, always check your ABCs — air, brakes, chain — and start slowly when trying out an unfamiliar e-bike. Be visible and predictable to other people on roadways, and use hand signals for turns. In a bike lane, watch out for opening car doors and drivers making right turns. Solo adult e-bikes
Velotric Breeze solo adult e-bike:
Step-thru frame plus rear rack, with up to 70 miles on a full battery. MSRP $1800.
Velotric Discover 2 solo adult e-bike:
Step-thru frame plus front suspension and rear rack, with up to 75 miles on a full battery. MSRP $1800.
Velotric Fold 1 solo adult e-bike:
Step-thru frame with integrated rear rack and wide tires. Not simple to fold; weighs 63 lbs. MSRP $1300.
eBullitt EP600 solo adult cargo e-bike: A cargo-only carrier designed for the sporty rider. Available only in Porter Square.

Tern HSD: Carries up to 1 child. We provide either a Yepp child seat (for less than 45 pounds) or Qibbel junior seat or seating pads (for over 45 pounds). We provide storm kit in colder weather. MSRP $4900+

Aventon Abound LR: Carries up to 2 children. We provide a Yepp child seat (for less than 45 pounds) or Qibbel junior seat or seating pads (for over 45 pounds). Radio Flyer Via Pro: Carries up to 2 children. We provide a Yepp child seat (for less than 45 pounds) or Qibbel junior seat or seating pads (for over 45 pounds). Can fit 2 Yepp seats. MSRP $1700

Urban Arrow Family Classic and Family Next: Front bucket e-bike with bench and seatbelts for 2 children (we recommend age 24 months and older). The Family Next model features front-wheel suspension. Before you can reserve an Urban Arrow, you must have borrowed and returned one of our other e-cargo bikes. MSRP $8000+
Bunch Original 4: Three-wheeled electric trike with bench seating for up to 4 children. Watch this video to learn more before borrowing it. MSRP $6500
